Someone made a fully street legal trike. It’s based on an XR650L and passes Pa inspection.
I need this in my life!!

“Passes PA inspection” Honestly though, this isn’t a bulletproof certification. I understand that the wheeler wasn’t designed to be street legal to begin with, buuut as a PA certified inspection tech myself, some of the rules make no clear sense and are more about interpretation that anything. What one guy fails every time, another guy passes. Plus, some of the stuff I’ve seen with current stickers on them should have went to a scrap yard long ago. Always helps when you know a guy.
EDIT: I forgot that it could most likely be a motorcycle inspection, of which I do not know the rules as I have no motorcycle (yet) and I am not certified to inspect motorcycles.

Painful youth. Fun, though.

The more I read the more I learn. He built it in 2002. He gets pulled over on a regular basis but because PA defines a Motorcycle as 2 or 3 wheels and he has a street legal VIN on the frame with all required lights he gets a pass.
Here in Illinois or Wisconsin I think it may be a bit more difficult.

Sounds about right. I mean as long as it’s registered properly than I cans ee how he can legally drive it.
Totally just noticed the older Scrambler in the pic, my uncle had one when I was a kid (Ok, so that wasn’t that long ago.) I haven’t seen one of those in a long time. Man that thing was a blast.

Yeah, I was wondering about that. We don’t have any inspection, so I would think if it’s not in their database, it’s a no-go. But what do I know?

They know what frames are DOT. It’s up to the builder to make sure the rest is DOT legal. Signals, mirrors, tires...

The Illinois DMV seems to be more interesting in hammering checks than anything, so they may just take your word for it :)
